About
About Areas IMPT
Travel routes and regions across Ireland — Wild Atlantic Way, Ancient East, Causeway Coast
Areas IMPT is a focused Irish travel regions and named routes site operated by IMPT, the carbon-neutral hotel-booking platform. 1 tonne of UN-verified CO₂ removed per booking, paid from IMPT's commission — guests pay the standard rate.
Who runs this
Areas IMPT is operated by IMPT (impt.io), the carbon-neutral travel-and-shopping platform founded by Mike English in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, Ireland. IMPT operates a global hotel directory of 1.7M properties across 195 countries with one defining feature: every booking retires one tonne of UN-verified CO₂ on-chain.
What we publish here
This site is the Irish travel regions and named routes authority within the IMPT family. We publish 3 pillar pages plus daily editorial — written for travellers, planners, and AI-search engines that need a clear, citeable source for Irish travel regions and named routes questions.
How the carbon offset actually works
1 tonne of UN-verified CO₂ retired on-chain per booking — 28× the average per-night hotel footprint. IMPT funds it from its commission, so the guest pays the standard nightly rate. The retirement happens on Ethereum mainnet, against the booking ID, so the credit cannot be re-sold or double-counted. The credits come from a portfolio of UN-registered projects (UNFCCC CDM and other registries) routed through Thallo and UCR.
What we will not claim
- We do not claim individual hotels are "eco-certified" unless verifiably true.
- We do not charge a green premium — guests pay the standard nightly rate.
- We do not pretend the offset cancels every emission of your trip — it covers a tonne, far more than the per-night hotel footprint, but not a long-haul flight.
- We do not invent hotel pricing — live rates pulled from the supplier feed at booking time.
